Torquay and the surrounding area is one of Britain's most popular seaside destinations. Noted for its relatively mild climate abundant palm trees and subtropical vegetation. The area has benefited enormously from a campaign to market it as 'The English Riviera'.

Nature and Wildlife

The South Devon Coast Path extends around the bay offering glorious views. The Teign Estuary can easily be explored from Ness Cove to the north of Babbacombe Bay and the Wildlife Trust has a centre nearby.

The beach is cleaned daily during the summer season. and a 'poop scoop' law is in operation between May and September.

Dogs are banned from Oddicombe beach.

Accessible off the main Torquay to Teignmouth road. Steps or paths lead to the beaches. steep at Maidencombe. Oddicombe Beach is served by a cliff railway.
