Llanfairfechan Beach

Conwy, Conwy

This is a pebbley beach at high tide whereas low tide reveals a long open stretch of sand great for watching the birds on Lavan sands (photo).

West end on Shell Island is a nature resort with great bird life. West end of promenade has a lovely 100 year old pavilion which serves snacks , teas, beach items (buckets and spades) etc. Dogs are allowed at the east end of the beach during the summer. Fishing is practised all along the beach area. When the sands are revealed by the tide they are clean and firm but on spring tides the sea recedes up to half a mile out into the bay. Small shopping area up into the village centre with pubs, Co Op, Spar and other shops available as well as a cash point. I have been a regular visitor to this beach for over 50 years. In my school days fishermen used to set nets on the sands for all species.

I have already commented on the beach but I would like to suggest that the tide heights are missing from your information page. These should be given in imperial and metric as sailors and fishermen find this data essential! Thanks!
